The Regional Nutrition Committee of Northern Mindanao passed during its December 10, 2014 meeting a resolution reactivating the Regional Bantay Asin Task Force to strictly enforce the Asin Law. Recognizing the relevance and urgency of establishing the structure, the RNC has prioritized the conduct of the Regional Bantay Asin Task Force Forum in 2015.

During the said meeting, RNC X Chairperson and DOH Regional DirectorAristides Concepcion directed the member agencies of the RNC to undertake the following: come up with a list of salt producers and distributors, strengthen advocacy at LGU level, explore possibilities of acquiring testing kits and the proper repacking and labeling of iodized salt by the two manufactures of iodized salt in Region X.

As part of the intensified efforts, RNC X sent a three-member delegation led by DOH-RO X and NNC X to the National Conference of Regional Bantay Asin Task Forces held at the Bayview Park Hotel in Manila last January 22-23.

The Regional Bantay Asin Task Force Forum for Northern Mindanao will be conducted in March and will be supported by NNC Central Office and UNICEF. mdmn
