08 June 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) X ensures that actions related to Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) are guided through the approval of three new resolutions during the 1st Semester Meeting of the RNC, Regional Nutrition Cluster and RNC-Technical Working Group held on 8 June 2021 via Zoom application.
The body approved the following resolutions related to NiE, to wit:
- Resolution No. 4, s. 2021 “Adoption of the 2020 National Nutrition Cluster Advisories and Reiterating the Role of the Local Nutrition Offices during Emergency Situations”
- Resolution No. 5, s. 2021 “Reiterating the “No Milk Donation Policy” in times of Disasters, Emergencies and Pandemics”
- Resolution No. 7, s. 2021 “Enjoining All Local Government Units to Use the Updated Electronic Operation Timbang (eOPT) Plus Tools”
The approval of these resolutions is timely given that the region continues to be affected by natural and human-induced emergencies that disrupt the lives of the populations, putting the most vulnerable groups: infants, children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, older persons, people with disabilities, and people living with debilitating conditions, at risk of deterioration of their nutritional status.
With the approval of these resolutions, the region is assured that the delivery of quality nutrition and related services especially during emergencies are facilitated through clear and practical quality standards. (NO I Liezel Joy D. Reyes)
