12 May 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) X represented by Provincial Nutrition Focal Point (PNFP) Lizelle Bete, conducted Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) monitoring and storage inspection to program recipient barangays in the municipality of Balo-i, Lanao del Norte.

Last 6 May, PNFP Bete visited Barangays Maria Christina and West Poblacion wherein NNC X was warmly received by the Punong Barangay, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and nutrition workers from the municipalities visited.

One of the preparations being made in both barangays is the purchase of chest freezers for perishable food items, as well as the construction of a community kitchen near the storage area for convenient and quick preparation and feeding to the 6-23 months old beneficiaries.

Both barangays are currently preparing and furnishing the storage facility for both dry and wet commodities. During the inspection, it was suggested to the BNSs, BHWs and nutrition staff to regularly check the storage room and the commodities for rodents, pests, and any possible infestations.

Such plans and preparations reflect the LGU and the barangays’ commitment, support and counterpart to the program.

NNC X is eternally grateful for the unmatched support and commitment shown by the program recipient areas. Hence, NNC X will continue to provide guidance and support as the program evolves to all program implementers in Lanao del Province as a One Region in Nutrition. (PNFP Lizelle Bete)
