Article LHEARN Orientation29 December 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – Valencia City, Bukidnon has been identified as the pilot site for the Learning Hub for Enhanced and Revitalized Nutrition (LHEARN) Project in Region 10 for having sustained their gains, even years after achieving the Nutrition Honor Award.

LHEARN is a capacity building platform to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experiences in nutrition program management among local government units (LGU) for improved nutrition program management. LHEARN will involve the mobilization of best performing LGUs and influence others to be performers in nutrition for positive nutrition outcomes.

The National Nutrition Council (NNC) X facilitated a hybrid orientation for the LHEARN Project management for 20 members of the Valencia City Nutrition Committee (CNC) and staff of the Valencia City Nutrition and Human Physical Development Division (CNHPDD) last 20-21 December 2022 at New Hotel Valencia, Valencia City, Bukidnon. Ms. Ma. Queenie Rose Amosco-De Jesus of NNC-Nutrition Information and Education Division (NIED) served as the resource person for the two-day activity. Ms. Amosco-De Jesus facilitated the orientation virtually, simultaneous with LHEARN sites from other regions.

The major activity outputs are the documentation of best practices, and the outline of the LHEARN session which will be further enhanced to establish the project and be able to assist the learner LGUs.

Following the orientation, the Valencia City as the pilot LHEARN LGU in the region will continue to pursue various actions to be able to establish the project in the city.

Councilor and CNC Co-chair Jerusha Cadigal-Recla also graced the activity and gave a message, where she thanked the CNC members for their sustained commitment and good performance. She also expressed that the strong political will, positive elements, and even the failures the CNC encountered molded them into the successful LGU that they are today.
