ro2 to honor nutrition champs 2013The National Nutrition Council – Cagayan Valley Region will stage the 2012 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony to honor top performing local government units in nutrition program management in the region.

The event will be on November 18, 2013, Monday at Crown Pavillion, Tuguegarao City. Around 300 guests composed of local chief executives, nutrition action officers, barangay nutrition scholars and members of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) will attend the event.

The awarding ceremony recognizes the importance of local actions in improving the nutrition situation in the region and will be a fitting tribute to men and women who have worked hard for the nutritional well being of the populace of region II.

More than ever, this occasion will gather everyone to renew their commitment towards a common vision of nutrition adequacy for all as an important element for global competitiveness, people empowerment and human development.

Plaques of Recognition will also be awarded to the Province of Quirino being the 1st Year CROWN Maintenance Awardee, Municipality of Lal-lo as 2nd year CROWN Maintenance Awardee and City of Cauayan as the Outstanding City in the Region and CROWN awardee.

The recognition and awarding of the LGUs were based on the 2012 Monitoring and Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) of the their nutrition programs as validated by the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) composed of Regional Technical Assistant in Nutrition from different government agencies spearheaded by NNC RO2.

MELLPI is conducted annually in all LGUs that aim to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of local governments in planning and implementing local nutrition programs.
