Negros Occidental – In an activity coined as “Walk the Talk” members of the Western Visayas Nutri-Media Circle (WVNMC) visited CROWN awardee La Carlota City last January 17, 2018. The exposure visit aimed for the members of the circle to be familiar and document the best practices and lessons learned on nutrition as well as generate support for nutrition.

WVNMC members had the chance to tour and observe various nutrition related projects such as the community gardens of Brgy. 3 and Hacienda Remedios of Brgy. Balabag. They also witnessed the actual transport of vegetables and other produce from the mountainous puroks to low land in Barangay Araal by use of tram system. Highlight of the visit was the presentation of Dr. Erwina Frances Jalandoni, CHO and CNAO of La Carlota City, on the City Nutrition Committee’s accomplishments in 2017.

Accompanying the members are NNC Region VI staff led by RNPC Nona B. Tad-y together with Dr. Celestino F. Habito of FAO, Ms. Ellamelides S. Antonio of Brain Trust Inc., and Ms. Jasmine Tandingan from NNC Central Office.
