Palo, Leyte -The Eastern Visayas Association of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (EVA-BNS) successfully conducted their First Quarter Meeting last February 21, 2019 held at NNC Regional Office, Palo, Leyte. It was a complete attendance participated in by the EVA-BNS Officers from the different provinces and cities in the region.
During the review of the Revised BNS Program Implementing Guidelines, the body suggested that the Barangay Nutrition Scholars who are already over 65 years old in service but are still able & active should still be allowed to continue working as BNS. The committee also reviewed & discussed the plans & agreements made in the previous years and settled to make a new resolution for 2019 considering that there were only two (2) resolutions made in 2018.
Another highlight in the meeting was the 2018 Operation Timbang Plus (OPT+) summary result. Updates on the computation on the projected population were also discussed and presented by the EVA-BNS President, Lydia Nuňez, to the committee who agreed to disseminate & discuss the updates to their respective federations. “We must do our best as volunteer workers to achieve wider coverage in OPT+ and help identify the malnourished child in the locality”, Pres. Nuňez remarked.
Moreover, clarifications regarding the request for the BNS Medical and Survivorship Assistance were tackled in which EVA-BNS officers were given flyers that show the requirements needed emphasizing on the six-month validity of the request.
Significant BNS-related reports such as the submission of the BNS Proposal and the receipt of the BNS Allowance for the year 2018 were also shared by NOI Novida Rico. For 2019, the officers are encouraged to disseminate to their respective local government units the early submission of the proposal.# NDRico
