ORMOC CITY – Alangalang, Leyte Mayor Lovell Ann Yu inspires participants to the 2 batches, 3-day 2022 Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) Updating and Budgeting Workshop held at Sabin Resort Hotel in Ormoc City from October 4 – 7, 2021.

She stressed the importance of inclusion of nutrition programs, project and activities (PPAs) in the Barangay Development Plans and Annual Investment Programs specially in the COVID 19 pandemic time.*

Good nutrition is the only weapon that the Barangays can fight the dreaded virus and other diseases. According to her this is mandated by national issuances, in the case of BNAP in the DBM Local Budget Circular 82.

Moreover, she told the barangay officials that the plans need not be expensive but should think of nutrition initiatives that are cost efficient and effective and that can be implemented at the barangay level.

Though in her message, she said there was slight increase in the number of stunted in some barangays of Alang-alang, Leyte and encourage all Punong Barangays to be partners and change agents in their respective barangay.

For her part, the Municipal LGU will fully support the initiatives of the barangays. #NPC-CPD
