ORMOC CITY – Mayor Lovelle Ann Yu in close coordination with the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) of Alang-alang, Leyte initiated the conduct 2022 Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) Updating and integrating in the Annual Investment Program.

The planning-workshop is timely as starting 2022, the local government units (LGUs) will have increase in their National Tax Allocation (NTAs) formerly known as Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) by virtue of E.O 138 or the Mandanas-Garcia Ruling.

Mayor Yu challenges the participants to be cooperative in the activities that will be done during the workshop. “BNA Planning is crucial in tackling critical health and development of a child’s life, better nutrition of children entail more benefits for them,”said Mayor Yu.

She further said “good nutrition is good health and boost the immune system against most diseases including COVID 19. Better nutrition programs will yield better growth and development and subsequent higher learning capacity among children. Good nutrition makes a child more productive in later life and will contribute to economic growth of the barangays, society and national in general.”

Furthermore, Yu stressed that nutrition interventions need not be expensive but requires holistic and multi sectoral approach.

Mayor Yu expects a more implementable output in their BNAPs. The municipal LGU will fully support their nutrition PPAs through their Municipal Nutrition Office. #NPC-CPD
