PALO, Leyte – RNPC Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr. and Provincial Nutrition Focal Point for Leyte Ms. Annabel B. Limbagan goodness Monday morning went to Mahaplag, Leyte to conduct 2022 Municipal Nutrition Action Plan updating. The event went smoothly after a dialogue with lady Mayor Daisy A. Lleve for the NNC 8 to conduct such activity.
Highlights of the updating was the inclusion of 4 major actions for Mahaplag, Leyte to scale up such as First 1,000 Days to prevent stunting among 0-59 months old children; Philippine Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (PIMAM) to prevent and rehabilitate wasting among 0-59 months old children; Nutrition-sensitive interventions to ensure food security among househol such as nutrition-sensitive agriculture, livelihood and resource generation; and enabling program.
The LCE together with LGOO and the municipal core planning team vowed to include the four strategies in their 2022 MNAP and Annual Investment Program.
The LCE vowed to create a job order Brgy. Nutrition Action Officer in lieu but will serve as Brgy. Nutrition Schooars. She said she will cluster the barangays to at least 2 or 3 for every one 1 BNAO.
Included also in their Municipal Devolution Transition Plan (DTP) is the creation of Nutrition Officer 1 permanent plantilla position in 2023. The RNPC however suggested to put in their DTP CapDev other nutrition plantilla positions and was seconded by the LGOO.
The proposal was recognized favorably by the team specially after the RNPC discussed the proposed staffing pattern of the nutrition office, financial requirements and the numerous role of the nutrition office.
Furthermore, PNFP Annabel B. Limbagan discussed the Local Nutrition Committee Functionality assessment.
The assessment has to be accomplished and submitted to the LGOO of the municipality cooy furnished NNC 8 for validation and consolidation.
Meanwhile, the Mayor Lleve vowed to support the current designated MNAO to provide basic equipment for nutrition report and a nutrition staff to assist the MNAO. #NPC-CPD
