b 417 220 2734 0   images nutripasada08 January 2013– The National Nutrition Council- Cordillera Administrative Region (NNC-CAR) conducted the “NUTRI-PASADA” in Barangay Bolbolo, Pilar, Abra in partnership with the Cordillera Administrative Region- Media Educators on Nutrition (CAR-MENU), Provincial Nutrition Committee-Abra and the Local Government Unit of Pilar, Abra.

Nutri-Pasada Program is one of the innovative project of NNC-CAR in partnership with the local media group, “CAR-MENU” targeting the Nutritionally Depressed Barangays (NDBs) of the Municipalities with high prevalence rate of undernutrition particularly in Pilar, Abra; Pinkupuk, Kalinga; and Paracelis, Mt. Province.

With the aim of increasing awareness of the people of the community on proper nutrition and child care especially families with malnourished children, the event is a one-day activity composed of nutrition lectures specifically on the nutrition situation of the area, the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF)and tips on organic farming; nutri-games (fun learning exercises and activities on nutrition) which involve the participation of preschool children in the barangay; vegetable cooking contest for the mothers and distribution of seeds and seedlings to families courtesy of the local government of Pilar, Abra Municipal Agriculture Office.

“I hope that this activity will trigger actions from the LGUs to combat malnutrition in your area. I know that you were all inspired and will apply what you have learned in the lectures given. Let us do our share so that we will all contribute in eliminating hunger and malnutrition in Abra in particular and in the Cordillera in general” OIC-Nutrition Program Coordinator of NNC-Region I and CAR Rose Lulu P. Pagaduan said during her closing message.

The same event was organized and will be conducted in Pinukpuk, Kalinga and Paracelis, Mt. Province on the 24th and 25th of January 2012, respectively. (K.P.A.G.)
