Cotabato City. National Nutrition Council–BARMM holds the 1st virtual meeting for the old and newly hired Human Resource for Health – Nutritionist-Dietitian Deployment Program and Nutrition Officers of Maguindanao Province via Google Meet last 21 June 2021 at 9:00AM to 12:00NN.

The meeting objectives are: 1. To reiterate the focus of Roles and Functions of HRH-NDDPs and Nutrition Officers, assist in the implementation of Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022 programs, and ensures the implementation of nutrition programs in the Local Government Units; 2. Update in the new Area of Assignments covering the 36 Municipalities of Maguindanao; 3. Updates on the Functionality of the Local Nutrition Committees and numbers of Barangay Nutrition Scholars; 4. Discuss the steps in using the new version Electronic-OPT Tool; 5. Share the 2021 Nutrition Month objectives, target audiences and its key messages and support strategy from different stakeholders; and 6. Discuss the overview of the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program.

The 2018 Results of Expanded National Nutrition Survey of FNRI (ENNS-FNRI) of the Province of Maguindanao shows that stunting prevalence is at 39.9%, more than the national prevalence of 30.3% and is of high public health concern. Therefore, Provincial Nutritionist-Dietitian Ms. Joy C. Baybay implored to increase more its nutrition advocacy campaign, continue to partner with the LGUs and requested the HRH-NDDPs and NOs to ask a copy of resolutions or ordinances on the creation of Local Nutrition Committee, list of Barangay Nutrition Scholars and a copy of Local Nutriiton Action Plans.

Furthermore, Maguindanao is included in the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program Phase 3, a nutrition-specific program that targets pregnant women, children 6-23 months old in food-insecure households, children 2 to under-five years old, and school–age children, focusing on the 6-23 months old children in the identified 11 municipalities.

The meeting was attended by the IPHO -Maguindanao, Provincial Nutritionist-Dietitian, 14 HRH-NDDPs, 6 Nutrition Officers and 1 Nurse detailed at NNC-BARMM.
