Public Junior High School Students from the thirteen (13) schools division offices in Metro Manila competed in this year’s On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest conducted by the National Nutrition Council – NCR in support to the 2019 Nutrition Month with the theme, “Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo…push natin ‘to!”.
The contest was held on July 12, 2019 at the NNC Boardroom, Taguig City. There were no representatives from the cities of Caloocan, Valenzuela, Marikina and Quezon City. The contest aims to increase the awareness of young people on the importance of healthy diet, increased physical activity and reduced sedentary behavior to prevent overweight and obesity and non-communicable diseases.
Ms. Lucia Broňo of Philippine Information Agency-Infocomm, Ms. Rose Anne Marquez of the Nutrition Center of the Philippines, and Ms. Vignette Navasero of TESDA-NCR composed the board of judges. Entries were judged based on the following criteria:
- Symbolism – 40%
- Visual Impact – 35%
- Originality – 25%
- Total – 100%
Mr. Kenny Deocarisa of Paraňaque National High School – Marcelo Green was adjuged as the Grand Prize Winner while Mr. Vee Jhay Mendoza of Isaac Lopez Integrated School of Mandaluyong City and Mr. Theodore Jeyde Balindo of San Juan Science High School were the first and second runner up winners, respectively. All the contestants and their respective trainer/s were given certificate of participation.
Winners will be awarded with trophy and cash prize during the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony to be held at The Heritage Hotel, Pasay City on July 26, 2019. (TAR/NPC MEVF/NNC-NCR)
