The National Nutrition Council – NCR conducted its 6th Stakeholders’ Forum in support of the 2019 Nutrition Month Theme, “Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo… push natin ‘to!” held on July 30, 2019 at the Heritage Hotel, Pasay City.

The forum aims to increase awareness on the importance of healthy diet and physical activity to prevent overweight and obesity and non-communicable diseases. It also aims to teach participants simple exercises that can be done at the workplace even in limited spaces. The forum was attended by around 250 stakeholders from the academe, private elementary schools, non-governmental organizations, national government agencies and local government units.

Mr. Daniel G. Salunga, Nutrition Officer II of the NNC-Nutrition Surveillance Division, discussed the importance of eating healthy and shared to the participants doable and practical tips on how to make their diet healthy. On the other hand, Professor Hercules P. Callanta of UP-Diliman College of Human Kinetics demonstrated to the participants simple physical activities that can be done in the workplace and gave tips on how to incorporate physical activity in daily living.

The technical session was followed by a talk show moderated by Nutrition Officer III Emerenciana Francia with guests namely, Dr. Rosalie Sto. Domingo (City Nutrition Action Officer, San Juan City), Mr. Raymond Anthony Mendoza (Store Leader, Decathlon-Alabang), and Mr. Ryan Carlo Magtagnob (Unit Manager, Metrobank-Axa). They shared how to stay fit and healthy in the workplace, home, and as an individual, respectively.

NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo, in her welcome and opening message, emphasized the importance of good health and nutrition in order to achieve a long and healthy life. “Health is wealth and good nutrition is the foundation of health. That is why I encourage everyone to love yourself, value your health and value your life. Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo…push natin ‘to!”, RNPC Federizo said.

The program, moderated by Nutrition Officer II Theresa Rivas, ended with a recital of the Pledge of Commitment by the guests and participants and closing remarks delivered by Dr. Ofelia L.
