mobile palengkeThe City Government of Pasig continues to find ways to help residents cope with the current crisis brought about by Covid-19.

Launched on March 24, a total of five (5) “Mobile Palengke” move around in different barangays in the city to sell basic food commodities like rice, vegetables and fruits. This innovative initiative aims to avoid crowding in the city’s public markets and talipapa. Pasigueños can buy essential commodities in Mobile Palengke while maintaining social distancing as a precautionary measure against Covid-19.

The Mobile Palengke also provides livelihood opportunities to small scale market vendors who operate them. “Presyong palengke, mas malapit sa mamimili, at tulong na rin sa mga maninindang Pasigueño”, explains Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto. This laudable Covid-19 related response of the city government is a big help to residents in this time of crisis as basic food commodities and other goods are made more accessible to them.

We hope to see more local government units making food commodities adequately available, affordable and more accessible to communities to help families be food secure in this time of crisis. (ELF/NPC MEVF/NNC-NCR)
