PNMS

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet- 449 participants including Registered Nutritionist-Dietitians and other health allied professionals, members of local nutrition committees and students from regions I, CAR, II, III, IV and NCR attended the 20th Pre-Nutrition Month Seminar (PNMS) organized by the Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines-Baguio Benguet Chapter in coordination with the National Nutrition Council-Cordillera Regional Office and Benguet State University.

The PNMS is an annual activity of NDAP-Baguio Benguet Chapter which started in 1998 and is being held in the month of June which aims to provide information on the nutrition month theme and updates on nutrition and dietetics to its target audience composed of Nutritionist-Dietitians and other health and nutrition workers.

This year, the seminar emphasizes the 2017 Nutrition Month theme which is “Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit-FOR LIFE! Nutrition Program Coordinator Rita Papey of NNC-CAR gave a presentation on the different innovative ways to celebrate nutrition month as part of the nutrition month talking points. Nutrition Officer III Bella Basalong of NNC-CAR on the other hand gave additional updates regarding healthy diet by presenting a lecture on “Foods we usually eat, healthy or not?” She emphasized the use of the Pinggang Pinoy as guide to healthy diet and the consumption of vegetables and fruits at five servings daily.

Other experts on nutrition and dietetics and related topics specifically on sports nutrition, drug and nutrient interaction, climate change and food security, and leadership were also invited to give lecture during the seminar.
