NNC Calabarzon has expressed its support for the 2021 implementation of the redesigned School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) of DedEd, for mitigating malnutrition and strategically promoting the nutritional status of children in the region.
It was an alternate ration of 50 days for “milk feeding” — and 60 days for the “nutritious food products feeding” consisting of fruits in season, or of either fortified and enriched bread.
In addition, E-Nutribuns were also provided in the District of Tagaytay in Division of Cavite, Division of San Pablo, Division of Imus, Division of Antipolo, Division of Lipa and Division of Tanauan.
Challenges were encountered as some parents and guardians were not available during the pick up of the food supplies due to their work schedules and the distance of their houses from the schools.
Later, however, the schools sought the assistance of their LGUs to conduct “house-to-house deliveries.” As a result, more food supplies were distributed, positive responses were received and many parents expressed their appreciation of the SBFP.
Mr. Neil Evangelista, a Registered Nutritionist-Dietitian (RND) is the DepEd-Calabarzon SBFP Coordinator. He is also a member of the interagency Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) and Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET).
Also in charge of overseeing the implementation of the program are the “School Heads” and the “School Feeding Coordinators.” Teachers were also involved to provide assistance to the “School Feeding Coordinator.”
