TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, March 1 (PIA) – – – The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) agreed to pass Resolution No. 1 series of 2018 adopting the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017 – 2022 during the first quarter RNC meeting last 23 February at Taj Hotel and Resto/Bar, Tuguegarao City.
Maria Gisela Lonzaga, OIC National Nutrition Council Region 2’s program coordinator, during the RNC’s first quarter meeting said nutrition is everybody’s concern regardless of gender.
She said the Committee recognizes the importance of PPAN 2017-2022 as the country’s national framework plan on nutrition which aims to improve the nutrition situation of the country.
Under the Resolution, active engagement of various stakeholders at the national, regional and local levels including the non-government organizations are expected on undertaking nutrition actions.
Lonzaga said among the key points of the Resolution are to implement the programs and projects of PPAN 2017-2022, ensure reporting of related physical and financial accomplishments and advocate for nutrition to be a perspective and component of NNC’s policies, plans and programs.
“Rest assured that NNC Region 2 will monitor the full implementation of this Resolution,” she said.
On the other hand, Lonzaga urged LGUs to pass a resolution that will ensure physical activities among pre-school, school children and employees. (MDCT/PIA-2)
