Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) Region 02 prepared for the 2017 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) today with an orientation at Taj Hotel and Restaurant, Tuguegarao City.
“The National Nutrition Council, is mandated among others, to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the country’s food and nutrition program, the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN). Toward this mandate, the interagency NNC annually conducts the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation or MELLPI since 1978. It aims to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of local governments in planning and implementing local nutrition programs.” Likewise, in conjunction with the MELLPI, the NNC also evaluates the performance of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS).
The BNSs are the barangay-based volunteers tasked to coordinate the delivery of basic nutrition and related services in their respective area of assignments. Both the MELLPI and BNS evaluation are institutionalized activities since 1979 of the national and local nutrition committees.
OIC NPC Maria Gisela Lonzaga led the orientation with 8 members of the RNET present. This year’s MELLPI is chaired by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 02 represented by Ms. Jazmine Aresta, and co-chaired by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 02 represented by Ms. Delia De Guzman. RNET agreed for the schedule of MELLPI 2017, schedules are as follow:
a. Batanes – March 22-25, 2017
b. Ilagan City – April 4 -7, 2017
c. Nueva Vizcaya – April 18, 21, 20017
d. Quirino – May 3- 5, 2017
e. Cagayan – May 24-25, 2017
f. Tuguegarao City – May 26, 2017
g. Isabela – June 7-8, 2017
h. Cauayan City – June 9, 2016
OIC Lonzaga discussed with the team the MELLPI Tools and agreed on the assignments of each team member.
