MS. MARIFE PERMISON ESPINUEVA, BNS, Cayambanan, Urdaneta City – BNS Espinueva is a Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Barangay Cayambanan, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
She’s been serving the Barangay as a Barangay Health Worker since 1993 and in the year 2010, she was appointed as a Barangay Nutrition Scholar. With her hard work and with the help of the Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Cayambanan was awarded as BEST IN NUTRITION (1st Place) in Tulungan sa Purok 2019. She also helped the Barangay on achieving the 1St Runner Up award for Child-Friendly Barangay 2018.
Marife is Urdaneta City’s very own dynamic and dedicated Barangay Nutrition Scholar. Her commitment and dedication in implementing nutrition and related activities since she started as BNS in 1993 are indeed worth Imitating.
As a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she advocates health and nutrition awareness by conducting regular mother’s classes and Pabasa sa nutrisyon among parents and caregivers. Her distinctive compassion makes her an effective educator.
She encourages mothers to exclusively breastfeed their babies and to let their new-born be screened in hospitals at birth. Marife conducts home visits to continuously monitor the health and nutrition status of the infant and pre-schoolers, she encourages families with children to visit the health center for immunization.
Marife Espinueva’s involvement includes home visits for salt testing to ensure iodized salt utilization of households, proper waste disposal, and making sure that all households have established their backyard gardens to ensure the availability of vegetables for the families. She’s also a promoter of exclusive breastfeeding and campaigns to close the referrals system of young children in support of growth and monitoring and promotion program.
Marife’s dedication and hard work lead the barangay nutrition program a long way. With her successful accomplishment and initiatives, no wonder, the barangay nutrition committee, and their constituent were inspired by her strong and wholehearted commitment to serve her barangay the best way she can.
Words cannot describe how grateful we are to have such a dedicated person, especially in these unprecedented times. MARIFE showed her relentless adherence to providing compassionate and selfless public service on ensuring that the health and nutrition of our people is the top priority, and it is something that our community should be proud of.
