IKSN ADNBUTUAN CITY – Recognizing the importance of the First 1000 Days as the golden window of opportunity and to attain the child’s full potential, the National Nutrition Council Caraga facilitated the conduct of Training on Early Childhood Care in the First 1,000 Days- Idol Ko si Nanay Training Module on 9-11 August 2022 at Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City.

The 3-day training of trainers was participated by 24 local nutrition providers from local government unit of Las Nieves, Carmen, RTR, Magallanes, Cabadbaran City, Butuan City, Nasipit, Jabonga, Buenavista, Santiago, Kitcharao, Province of Agusan Del Norte and Province of Dinagat Island consisting of Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs), Nutrition Program Coordinators (NPCs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), Nurses, Midwives, and RNDs.

Present as resource persons to the different modules are Dr. Niṅo Archie S. Labordo (NNC CARAGA OIC-RNPC), Ms. Julianne Janine V. Carillo (DMO II SDS), Mariella P. Rayco (DMO II SDS), Jann Abigail O. Portillas (DMO II PDI), and Ms. Krystal Ryedel P. Antonio- De Jose (PO III, Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children). The trainers and participants were assisted by NNC Caraga Technical Staffs.

This Idol ko si Nanay capacitates community workers involved in the delivery of services in the context of ECCD in the First 1000 days. Through the training, implementers are expected to have competencies relevant to the delivery of services under the F1K program. Major input is on facilitating conduct of mothers’ classes using the Idol ko si Nanay Facilitator’s Guide for the First 1000 days and the participatory cooking demonstration for improved complementary feeding among 6-23 months old children.

With the formulated re-entry plans, positive feedback from the participating LGUs guarantees re-echoing of the Idol Ko Si Nanay Program for strengthened delivery of key interventions on health, nutrition, social services, and early learning to help in the achievement of optimum growth and development of every child. #MAFernandez
