San Agustin Launching Feb 14TANDAG CITY – On February 14, 2023, Valentine’s Day, the Municipality of San Agustin, Surigao Del Sur launched the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK-DSP) for children aged 6 to 23 months old.

The TK-DSP launching marks the beginning of improved food and nutrient intakes for the selected beneficiaries in the Municipality of San Agustin. This program provides nourishing food commodities to children aged 6-23 months old for a period of 180 days who were also identified as nutritionally at-risk or undernourished.

Mayor Nicolas O. Alameda graced the event’s launch together with National Nutrition Council Caraga – Development Management Officer II, Ms. Shenna Marie Montenegro, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Ms. Maryl Masaglang, Brgy. Kauswagan Punong Barangay Felicitas Corvera, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, and 17 guardians of the beneficiaries who attended the launching.

In his opening message, Mayor Alameda emphasized the need to invest in children’s future, particularly in nutrition. Children are the nation’s future leaders and have the potential to lead and change the world someday, the good Mayor added.

In Surigao del Sur, along with the municipalities of Bayabas, Carrascal, Lanuza, and Lingig, the municipality of San Agustin was classified as one of the five target beneficiaries of TK-DSP.

Mayor Alameda pledged to support the funding of the TK-DSP in their municipality as needed, and to regularly track the progress of the feeding program.

The tireless work of Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Maryl Masaglang with the assistance of the Municipal Nutrition Committee led by Mayor Nicolas O. Alamada enabled the TK-DSP Launching in San Agustin successfully.#DMOIISMontenegro
