Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur – National Nutrition Council Caraga spearheaded an Orientation on Nutrition Program Management and Advocacy Forum in an aim to garner support and commitments from the local administrators and legislators of Agusan del Sur on nutrition agenda. The activity was held at The Farmer’s Inn Hotel, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur on 18 October 2022.

Attended by various personalities from different Local Government Units (LGUs), some of them shared their insights and commitments in support to nutrition. Among them is the Municipal Mayor of Veruela and Sangguniang Bayan members and representatives of different municipalities.

The Local Chief Executive of the Municipality of Veruela, Mayor Myrna Mondejar recognized the importance of a functional Municipal Nutrition Committee in order to address malnutrition in a certain locality. With this new perspective obtained from the orientation, she committed to continue in making health as her priority and will focus in maternal and child nutrition.

Local legislator from the Municipality of Sta. Josefa, Sangguniang Bayan Member, Hon. Ginalyn Parba, a nurse by profession, commit to lobby to the SB Council and administration to strategize and strengthen nutrition program implementation.

Sangguniang Bayan Member, Hon. Anabella Yecyec of the Municipality of San Luis said that the orientation provided her a closer look on the nutrition situation of the country and gave her an idea on what she can do as a policy maker to address malnutrition in San Luis.

Hon. Nila P. Madelo, Sangguniang Bayan Member from the Municipality of Talacogon shared her interest in attending more orientation and trainings on nutrition.

A representative of the Sangguniang Bayan of the Municipality of Trento, Ms. Sheany Lovelle Anno recognized the importance of a packaged Local Nutrition Action Plan in every locality and the role of the Sangguniang Bayan in the effectivity, adoption and approval of nutrition and nutrition-related laws and policies.

Hearing the insights and commitments of the Mayor and SB Members of the Province of Agusan del Sur, NNC Caraga is looking forward for a scaled-up nutrition and nutrition-related interventions. #MPRayco
