The Municipality of Midsayap spearheaded the Launching of the Tutok Kainan Dietary supplementation Program in the Province of North Cotabato last May 25, 2022. Marie Jane B. Lihao, RND as NNC Provincial Nutrition Focal Point for North Cotabato Province , serves as a Resource Speaker on the said activity. She presented the importance of prioritizing the First 1000 Days as the Golden Window of Opportunity. In this crucial stage of a child’s life, giving an eye on early childhood care and development means taking care of the mother from day 1 of pregnancy and providing essential newborn care up to 2 years and beyond.

PNFP Lihao oriented the mother of the target beneficiaries of their duties and responsibilities during the 180-day feeding program. The need for growth monitoring and evaluation was also reiterated in her speech . Food preparation techniques following the basic food safety protocols and expected menus were discussed. She also presented the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding and encouraged the mothers to continuously breastfeed their children since this is considered an important tool in ensuring that nutrition will be provided to a child.

Midsayap Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Neren Villareal, RND, and Nutrition Coordinator Rovelyn Hernandez express their message of support and heartfelt thanks to NNC Regional Office XII for choosing their municipality as one of the recipients of Tutok Kainan DSP both for phases 2 and 3. The said activity will run for six (6) months. Provisions of Dry feeding for the first month of the program will start on June 6, 2022.
