29 March 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) X held another set of Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) and SMS Reporting System Orientation as the program prepares to launch in Lanao del Norte Province.

NNC X, led by Provincial Nutrition Focal Point (PNFP) Lizelle Bete, paid a visit to the Municipalities of Linamon and Kauswagan in Lanao del Norte last 22-23 March 2022.

The Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Punong Barangay, and nutrition workers from the municipalities visited welcomed NNC X and actively participated in the event.

As part of the preparatory activities of the program, PNFP Bete provided the program updates, overview, objectives, components, priority groups, social preparation requirements, and duties of local government units (LGUs) and beneficiary barangays. PNFP Bete also elaborated the monitoring and reporting procedures for the program’s SMS reporting system, from the receipt of dry and wet commodities in the municipality to the delivery of goods to beneficiaries aged 6-23 months at the barangay level, as well as their monthly nutritional status report.

Furthermore, as the online SMS reporting system for Phases 3 and 4 is being completed, initial information was given to the BNSs and staff present during the meeting, and future updates would be relayed.

As agreed during the orientation, in both LGUs, a meeting will be organized in each program recipient barangay to address preparatory program measurements such as storage facilities, community kitchens, and beneficiary mothers’ orientation and that any plans or strategies developed in relation to the program would be updated to NNC X.

As the effort progresses, further program and SMS reporting system orientation will be pushed through to the rest of the program recipient LGUs, bringing the province of Lanao del Norte one step closer to implementing the TK DSP. (PNFP Lizelle Bete)
