NEO Orientation Course Exhibit8 August 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) X hosted a booth exhibit to further advocate the nutrition program to newly-minted and comebacking Local Chief Executives (LCE) of Regions 9, 10, and Caraga. Also, re-elected officials in Region 10 were also catered in the booth exhibit. This was held during the Cluster Newly Elected Officials (NEO) Orientation Course held last 3-4 August 2022, at Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Visiting local leaders were provided with reference and collateral materials on how the NEOs can navigate the nutrition program in their respective areas. Such advocacy focused on the 3Ns: Nutrition Committee, Nutrition Office, and Nutrition Action Plan.

Further, the LCEs were made to guess the stunting prevalence of their area, based on the 2021 Operation Timbang (OPT) Plus report. NNC X staff manning the booth then explained how comprehensive nutrition efforts, especially during the First 1000 Days, can help contribute to optimum nutrition outcomes.

Apart from the LCEs, among the visitors of the NNC X booth are the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Atty. Benjamin C. Abalos, Jr., Regional Directors from DILG and Department of Health (DOH) regional offices, as well as from the Local Government Academy (LGA).

The activity was organized by the DILG X and LGA, in cooperation with the League of Municipalities of the Philippines. Other agencies also have their booths; NNC X likewise welcomed fellow exhibitors who asked questions regarding nutrition and on complementary feeding.

Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez, Nutrition Officer III Sheena Marie G. Talle, Development Management Officer II Arlie Joy O. Damiles, and DMO II (Provincial Nutrition Focal Point) Lizelle L. Bete accommodated the LCEs and visitors of the NNC booth. Support and materials were also provided by the NNC Regional Offices 9 and Caraga, and were part of the collaterals distributed to the LCEs. (Nutrition Officer III Sheena Marie G.
