OPT Plus MOPThe National Nutrition Council – Nutrition Surveillance Division conducts ECCD F1K Reporting System (version 2) and the OPT Plus Manual of Operations and Data Quality Check Protocol Training of Trainers on December 12 to 16, 2022 at Tiara Oriental Hotel, Makati City. The activity was participated by NNC9 NO III Mr. Elton N. Pelegrino together with PDO I Ms. Ayesa Gay A. Bejerano and representatives from different NNC Regional Offices nationwide. The training aims to organize a pool of trainers for the roll-out training activities and scaling up of the OPT Plus MOP and DQC with the end-users in their respective regions and provide a real-time online reporting facility that is accessible on both computer and mobile.

The Operation Timbang Plus (OPT Plus) is an annual child growth assessment for all 0–59 months old children in the barangays where length/height, weight, and MUAC measurements are collected to generate data on the nutritional situation of children as inputs to community nutrition assessment, nutrition program planning, and monitoring and evaluation of the local nutrition action plan (LNAP). While, the Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 days (ECCD F1K) Program is one of the current initiatives of the government toward addressing malnutrition, particularly wasting and stunting among children under five that involves the delivery of an intervention package that is focused on the first 1000 days of life or the period of pregnancy (270 days) which starts from conception followed by the first two years of life (730 days).

The OPT Plus Manual of Operations and Data Quality Check Protocol Training of Trainers lasted for 3 (three) days. On the other hand, the ECCD F1K Reporting System (version 2) Training of Trainers was dovetailed lasting for two (2) days. The activity includes a series of training sessions composed of lecture-discussion, workshops, and field practicum. The first day include lecture-discussion and demonstration on Section 1: Operation Timbang Plus (OPT Plus) Overview; Section 2: Pre-OPT Plus Protocol; Section 3: OPT Plus Protocol on Anthropometric Measurement; and Section 4: OPT Plus Protocol on Encoding and Report Generation. The standardization exercise was conducted on the second day at Plainview Elementary School, Mandaluyong City. On the third day includes lecture-discussion on Section 5: OPT Plus Protocol on Data Interpretation and Action Planning; Section 6: OPT Plus Protocol on Follow Through Activities; Section 7: Data Quality Check at the Barangay and Municipal Level and Section 8: Supervisors Guide: Supportive Supervision. On the fourth day includes lectures-discussion and demonstration on the Overview of the ECCD F1K Reporting System, Account Creation, Logging in and navigating the site. The Synthesis followed by the Closing message and photo opportunity was done on the 5th day of the training. After undergoing and passing the training sessions and standardization exercise, the trained NNC staff are expected to roll-out the same set of activities to their respective region in the future for the adoption of the new strategy for the improvement and betterment of the overall nutrition situation in the country.
