5 May 2021, Cagayan de Oro City – A total of 25 members of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team and local government unit representatives (Provincial and City Nutrition Action Officers and staff) attended a virtual updating meeting convened by the National Nutrition Council X on 4 May 2021.

The meeting was conducted to give updates on the upcoming Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) and search for outstanding local nutrition focal points (LNFPs).

In her opening message, Nutrition Program Coordinator Gladys Mae S. Fernandez expressed her gratefulness to the participants for attending the meeting.

The meeting was brief as updates on the following were presented: 1) evaluation of outstanding LNFPs; 2) endorsement of provincial outstanding LNFPs; 3) submission of LGU MELLPI results for awarding of Green Banner Seal of Compliance; 4) next steps for Nutrition Honor Awardee LGUs; 5) Updated 2021 MELLPI and OLNFP schedule; and 6) updates on the national virtual validation visit.

Emphasis was given on the deadlines for endorsements and target dates of conduct of activities. After the presentation, questions and clarifications were catered by NNC X.

A separate meeting with LGUs Misamis Occidental and Cagayan de Oro was held to give updates on the national virtual validation visit. Updates presented included the detailed activities that will transpire during the two-day validation. Together with Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, the three LGUs are vying for national awards. The national validation is scheduled on 27-28 May for Manolo Fortich, 1-2 June in Misamis Occidental and 15-16 June for Cagayan de Oro City. (NO III Sheena Marie G. Talle)
