31 March 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC X) continues to orient and capacitate program implementers in preparation for the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program in Lanao del Norte Province.
Last 28 March 2022, PNFP Lizelle L. Bete of NNC X paid a visit to the towns of Maigo and Bacolod, Lanao del Norte, which was attended by the Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Punong Barangay, nutrition workers from the municipalities, and Department of Health Nutritionist-Dietitian Alzenjoan Icalina.
This orientation was held to provide target local government unit beneficiaries with program updates, guidelines, and social preparation requirements to focus on the objectives of the program in enhancing the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intakes to contribute to the prevention of stunting and wasting in children aged 0 to 23 months.
Among the agreements reached during the event were preparation of storage facility; wherein in LGU Bacolod, it was planned that MNAO Richard Tan will propose to the Municipal Mayor to purchase a chest freezer for the storage of perishable items. Hence, any plans or strategies developed in relation to the program would be updated to NNC X.
In addition, both LGUs will hold a meeting to inform their recipient barangays about preliminary program measures including community kitchens aside from the storage facility and orientation to the mothers of the beneficiary. As a result, strategic steps will be provided to encourage and organize mothers of beneficiaries to participate in the program, as well as to supply parents’ counterparts on a voluntary basis.
Further, TK DSP and SMS reporting system orientation will be sent out to the rest of the program recipient LGUs as the endeavor develops, putting Lanao del Norte one step closer to adopting the TK DSP. (PNFP Lizelle Bete)
