PALO, Leyte – Two more Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Leyte has partnered with the National Nutrition Council (NNC) for the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TKDSP).
The identified farmers’ association are Kasanag Farmer Irrigators Multipurpose Cooperative (Kasanag FIMPCO) in Ormoc City and Omaganhan Farmers Agrarian Reform Cooperative (OFMPC) in Tabango town. Both are registered with Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
TKDSP program aims to reduce malnutrition rate specifically wasting and stunting among children and help local farmers somehow gain income for them to provide food for their family.
The two identified ARBOs will supply raw products such as fresh meat, poultry products, fish, fruits, and vegetables, and among others for the meal requirement for the 6-23 months old children. These fresh food items will be used to prepare healthy recipes for 6-23months old children consistent with the NNC approved cycle menu.
Kasanag FIMPCO will supply the municipalities of Merida and Kananga Leyte while Omaganhan FMPC will supply the municipalities of Tabango, Matag-ob, Calubian and Leyte, Leyte.
Present during the signing of Marketing Agreement on June 9 and 10 were Mr. Howel C. Mirafuentes President of Kasanag FIMPCO and Ms. Ivy O. Fuentes of Omaganhan FMPC.
Also present in the activity were members of Kasanag FIMPCO; Ms. Roxanne R. Omambac, Marcos Apay, Jenylyn R. Panilag; Municipal Nutrition Action Officer of Merida Leyte, Mr. Ernesto B. Pening.
Meanwhile, NNC8 was represented by RNPC Catalino P. Dotollo Jr. together with Ms. Annabel B. Limbagan and Mr. Gerico A. Sabalza, the provincial nutrition focal point for Leyte and Samar, respectively.
The ceremonial signing were conducted in their respective offices at Barangay San Jose in Ormoc City and Barangay Omaganhan in Tabango town, respectively. #PNFP-ABL
