PALO, Leyte – Baybay City in Leyte has adopted a new technology for complementary food production.In a Facebook post, John Glenn Ocana, Leyte S&T Director, said the MASAGANA RIC, mostly composed of women members, joined the online training on the use of cereal puffing machine on December 3, 2021.
The initiative will boost food security and ensure the availability of nutritious food products in the city and even in nearby towns, he added.
Funded by the local government unit, the complementary food processing center located in Zone 1 has been producing healthy food for children as well as providing a sustainable income for the association members.
The new technology and the healthy food products were developed by the DOST-FNRI, a partner of NNC to reduce malnutrition in the country. #PNFP-GAS
