HILONGOS, Leyte – In the light of the implementation of Tutok Kainan: Dietray Supplementation Program in Eastern Visayas, the NNC 8 conducted a series of DSP orientation in the target municipalities.

Thirty 30 municipalities in the province of Leyte is included under Phase 3 of Sen Imee Marcos’ congressional initiative.

The ECCD F1K areas of Leyte includes the municipalities of Abuyog, Mahaplag and Hilongos. The said orientation is conducted to the aforementioned areas including the neighboring towns of Matalom, Hindang, Inopacan and Albuera.

RNPC Dr Catalino Dotollo, Jr. discussed the rationale, objectives and target partner-children. Likewise, implementation mechanism including type of feeding, timing and duration were also discussed. Content of MOU and the roles of LGUs up to the barangay level were also given emphasis.

NOIII Dr. Nino Archie S. Labordo discussed in details the various forms to filled up and requirements to be submitted. Moreover, NO1 Annabel B. Limbagan discussed the cycle menu and how to prepare the food.

After the orientation various issues and concerns arise and were ironed out during the open forum. After which the group agreed upon on the next steps to be done by the respective LGUs. Participants to the orientation were MNAOs and Municipal Nutrition Coordinators.

After the TK orientation, policy dissemination and advocacy forum on RA 11148 or the “Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Magnanay Act” followed.

RNPC highlighted the salient features of the law. He emphasize RA 11148 as platform for the creation of nutrition office with separate budget and full time NAO taking into consideration other policy instrument such EO 138 or the Mandanas-Garcia ruling, DBM LBC 137 and LBC 53. #NPC-CPD
