PALO, Leyte – With the short stint and subsequent retirement of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) OIC RD Erna Gorne of Maasin City, the entire nutrition networks welcome a new but old nutrition ally in the person of OIC RD Ninfa Barcena Quirante.

Ninfa as she is fondly called spans more than three (3) decades of both private and government service. She started and was a teacher for 15 years in private schools, and then she join the government service as Information Officer (IO) at PIA in 1997. She was then promoted as Information Officer 2 until her last promotion as IO 3.

During her government service as Ifornation Officer, she was assigned to various radio and TV hostings. She was a staunched nutrition advocate.

Proof of it, is her being a Secretary of the Harmonized Initiative of Media for the Spread of Good Nutrition (HIMSOG) 8. HIMSOG 8 is the media arm of the National Nutrition Council 8 and a conglomerate of both public and private media practitioners.

**PIA being both a member of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) and the Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) for nutrition, Ninfa oftentimes represented the agency in various meetings and other NNC 8 engagements. On top of that she is also a member of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) who validates and evaluate nutrition program implementation of local government units (LGUs).

Presently, she is the Officer-in-Charge Regional Director of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 8.

With her current designation, she vowed to sustain her commitment toward nutrition information and -a close ally of nutrition program in the region.
