TACLOBAN CITY – The Municipal Nutrition Committee of Gandara, Samar on Thursday (Nov. 18) attended the reorientation on Local Nutrition Early Warning System (LNEWS).
LNEWS is a form of monitoring and analysis of relevant information that may foretell a possible crisis such as food shortage or health problem.
Gandara, being one of the areas in the region with high malnutrition incidence, was chosen as one of the pilot municipalities for LNEWS.
In his commitment message, Mayor Eufemio S. Oliva assured his utmost support to improve the towns nutrition situation, sharing he has never turned down any request from its newly-appointed municipal nutrition action officer, Androw Delector.
Meanwhile, Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo, Jr., assured the LGU in terms of technical assistance to capacitate its MNC members and Barangay Nutrition Scholars.
He also commended the mayor for creating a nutrition office with manpower compliment for the efficient implementation of relevant interventions, such as its dietary supplementation program for pregnant women and 6-23 months.
Finally, Mayor Oliva and RNPC Dotollo signed the memorandum of agreement for the rollout of LNEWS in Gandara. #PNFP-GAS
