PALO, Leyte – On October 28, 2021 the National Nutrition Council 8 spearheaded the conduct of second Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC). The RNC is the highest policy and coordinating body in nutrition at the regional level.

The meeting was presided by RNC Chairperson and DOH CHD Director IV Dr. Exuperia B. Sabalberino. It was attended by other regional heads and representatives of regional agencies who are members of the RNC.

Important issues discussed where Scaling Up Nutrition Movement (SUN) 3.0 Philippine Strategy, Nutrition Shepherding, MELLPI Pro Results, Philippine Multi-sectoral Nutrition Project.

Important resolutions passed were: Resolution on the Adoption and Organization of Scaling Up Nutrition Movement (SUN) in EV; Adoption and Organization of Nutrition Shepherding in EV, Resolution Enjoining LGUs in EV for the Inclusion of Nutrition PPAs in their Respective Devolution Transition Plans, Resolution Enjoining LGUs in EV for the Creation of Nutrition Office and Subsequent Permanent Nutrition Plantilla Positions and Resolution Recommending For Winners of Outstanding LGUs and n Nutrition and Nutrition Focal Points.

Meanwhile, the Regional Development Council in its July 2021 meeting approved a resolution Adopting the Philippine Multi-sectoral Nutrition Project in the region. #NPC-CPD
