livelihood hindingPALO, LEYTE – The Barangay Council of Doos del Norte in Hindang, Leyte in close collaboration with the Municipal LGU through its Municipal Agriculture Office conducted a training for Backyard Gardening intended for the Persons With Disabilities (PWD).

The PWDs should be an active participants in any government’s sectoral projects and making them productive inspite limitations in terms of mobility, sight, hearing and similar physical disabilities.

Meanwhile, livelihood assistance were also extended to Association of Fish Vendors in the same municipality by its partner national government agency, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The above projects are the commitment of National Government Agencies (NGAj and LGUs to scale up nutrition interventions specially in a challenged municipalities.

The above are both nutrition sensitive projects that are tweaked or modified to produce nutrition outcomes. Moreover, both projects are aimed at reducing food insecurity among households specially those with pregnant/lactating women and those with malnourished children.

Indeed equality and equity among the target partners are present. Equal opportunities and equity is an empty slogan if we do not act and invest and implement nutrition sensitive interventions. #NPC-CPD
