The National Nutrition Council (NNC) convenes the 1st NNC Technical Committee (TechCom) meeting for 2025 on 16 May 2025, presided over by Assistant Secretary and Executive Director IV, Dr. Azucena Milana-Dayanghirang, at the NNC Board Room. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Commission for the Welfare of Children; departments of Agriculture, Economy, Planning and Development, Education, Health, the Interior and Local Government, Labor and Employment, Trade and Industry, Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute, and Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine Coalition of Advocates for Nutrition Security, Inc. (PHILCAN), UPLB-Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement (BIDANI); and the two (2) new NNC Technical Committee member agencies, Climate Change Commission and National Commission on Indigenous Peoples.

Key agenda items discussed were updates on the formulation of the Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) Strategic Plan 2023-2028 and development of the Philippine Nutrient Profile Model. The Committee moved for the endorsement to the NNC Governing Board the Addition of Folic Acid to and Use of Bioavailable Iron in Wheat Flour Fortification Standards in the Philippines for the Prevention of Neural Tube Defects (NTDs) and Iron Deficiency, and the 2025 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI) Pro Guidelines. The DepED also provided updates on its School-Based Feeding Program and their PPAN commitments and accomplishments.
