The meeting covered discussions on the overall technical assistance of NI particularly the long-term support to NNC to operationalize the PPAN. NNC contracted Alcanz International LLC to develop a Compendium of Actions for Nutrition (CAN) based on success stories and lessons learnt in the implementation of the PPAN in key areas in the Philippines. Alcanz is also tasked to help NNC improve planning and delivery of nutrition actions at the local level through the formulation of the Regional Plans of Action for Nutrition, strengthening the monitoring and evaluation system for PPAN, and its advocacy programs.
Stakeholders are enjoined to participate in various activities such as the RPAN formulation workshops in different regions, and identify their agency’s or organization’s commitment to the PPAN. The Department of Agrarian reform announced its intention to involve regional offices in the RPAN formulation and requested NNC to consider involving small holder farmers in other nutrition activities. While representatives of the Department of Education said that they intend to be more involved in the planning of nutrition programs in addition to reporting their accomplishments.
